South Beach, here we come!

 

Left Outer Banks early Saturday morning and drove 13 hours to Winter Springs, where our good friends (Rich and Jane) live.    Arrived, tired and hungry, to a fantastic grilled steak dinner.   The next day, we piled into Jane’s car and headed off to the movies (a tradition of ours).  Hangover 2 was hysterical.   We saw Hangover 1 together and we weren’t disappointed in #2.    Afterwards, went to a German restaurant in Sanford for brats, beer, and music.    Left Winter Springs this morning and drove 4 hours to South Beach.    Hip Hop Festival coming to an end.    Thank God.    Lots of violence.   I don’t know why South Beach continues to host this event.   There are shootings every year.    

We were amazed to see this rainbow on our way out of the Outer Banks.   The photo doesn’t show the entire rainbow, but it was the full arch.   Have never seen that before.  Now, where’s that pot of gold?

Today we celebrated Mike’s birthday…….all day.    Weather beautiful.  Wind died down on the beach.    Mike, Emil and boys went to Hatteras Lighthouse.   Later, dinner at the Mad Crabber.

 

Fun in the sun–day 4 Outer Banks

 

So happy that this house has a pool.    Beach has been windy the past 2 days.    Kids having a ball.    

Outer Banks, Here we come!

 

7:30 AM Cape May Ferry ----   Great weather.    Arrived in Waves, NC at 4:00 PM.    House is amazing.    “Island Bliss” 6 Bedrooms 7 Bathrooms, pool, hot tub, game room --- on the ocean.     Ahhhh.

Good bye Munich–Hello New Jersey

Woke early – 5:00 AM and took cab to airport.   Flight non stop 8 hours 40 minutes.  On time.  Very tight security in Munich airport.  Went through security twice, once when we first checked our bags and then again at the gate.   Gates going to US were in a secure area.  

Arrived home in NJ around 3:00 PM EST (9:00PM Munich time).      

Fantastic trip.   We would highly recommend Uniworld for river cruising in Europe.    Ship was unbelievable.  Food gourmet.   Wines awesome.  Ports amazing.   

Munich–day 4–Wolfrathausen

Sunny and warm 72 degrees. Today we went by train to Wolfrathausen, the little town where Kos was born in a displaced persons camp in 1946.

We returned to Munich Central Station around 11:00 AM and grabbed another bratwurst sandwich for lunch. We have eaten bratwurst almost daily. We continued on to take the Grayline Hop on Hop off bus tour of Munich. The guide was difficult to understand, but we did get a good feel for this capital city of Bavaria. After the tour, we decided to go back to Hofbrauhaus for dinner and sit outside in the Beer Garden. The first time we went, it was too cool to sit outside.

Above picture is taken at the train station. This trip was the first time I have been able to walk, climb up and down stairs, etc., so we enjoyed taking public transportation.

White asparagus was in season, but we never had a chance to try it. Eating too much bratwurst.

Munich - Day 3 - to Salzburg, Austria–5/5/11

The gazebo from Sound of Music. Today we took a hop on hop off tour of Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart.

We took the train from Munich (1 1/2 hours for the express). Note to remember ---- express trains $$$$. 72EU for one way ticket for both of us. Generally we used 29 EU which allowed us to take regional trains and busses for 24 hours.
