Copenhagen - Day Two - June 18, 2013

After a very nice breakfast in the hotel, off we went to pick up a canal cruise. Our plan for the day was to first take a canal cruise, then have lunch of sausages wrapped in bacon, and finally, a tour of the Carlsberg Brewery. We started our walk on the Stroget (shopping street). This area is a pedestrian shopping area loaded with cafe's, restaurants, clubs, and of course - stores.

Bicycles are everywhere. When walking along the streets, we have to be very careful not to step into a bike lane, or else! :) LOL The infrastructure of Copenhagen is conducive to biking and bikers have the right of way.

It's interesting to see everyone commuting to work - dressed in business attire and carrying briefcases on their bikes. Women in dresses and high heels, riding bikes.

We found our canal tour at the Nyhaven Canal area and boarded the open air tour boat. We had a live guide who did his commentary in several languages. The weather was picture perfect (again) and perfect for being out on the canal.

There were many houseboats along the canal which we found to be very interesting.

We passed under some very low bridges.

Lunch was bacon wrapped sausage sandwiches. (the hell with Weight Watchers). :) LOL

After lunch we hopped a cab to the Carlsberg Brewery.

We enjoyed a tasting!

We were so lucky to be able to get up close and pet one of the Jutland Horses.

This is the Little Mermaid's younger sister - her big sister at Langelinje was given to Copenhagen by JC Jacobsen's son, Carl, in 1913.

After our final "tasting", we toured the Old Brewhouse which houses the world's largest collection of different, unopened bottles.

Tomorrow - we are looking forward to boarding our ship, Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas for an 11 Day cruise of the Baltic Countries, including St. Petersburg, Russia.
