Wow! Two cruises this winter. First one on the Celebrity Equinox. Visited San Juan, St. Martin and St. Kitts. These islands experienced devastating damages from Hurricane Maria and have not yet recovered. Sad to see. Tourists are coming back, but not all of the cruise ships are able to come since the infrastructure of the island won’t allow so many tourists at one time.
We departed from Miami so it was great to pass our old stomping grounds…..South Beach. We spent about 10 years as snowbirds in the heart of South Beach on 4th Street and Collins Avenue…….less than a block from the beach. The ship was beautiful!
Our second cruise was also on Celebrity, but on the Silhouette. We sailed on this ship a few years back on a transatlantic itinerary. We sailed out of Fort Lauderdale this time and visited San Juan, St. Martin and St. Thomas. We were able to meet up with our son in San Juan as he had business there that week. It was great to see the Condado section of San Juan, which is very popular with tourists. He picked us up at the ship, brought us to his apartment and then we walked to a fantastic restaurant that was hidden away in a Marriott hotel. No advertisement so you had to know it was there! A great evening.
