Quantum of the Seas - December 1 - 12, 2014

Boarding went quickly and easily. No long lines. Royal Caribbean staff with iPads in hand were scattered throughout the terminal. Total process took less than 15 minutes.

The ship is spectacular. Very high tech. Our cabin is larger than usual and beautifully furnished.

The first 2 1/2 days were at sea so we had more than enough time to acclimate us to this new concept of "smart ship" cruising. Dynamic dining is similar to My Time Dining except you must make a reservation if you want to eat at a particular time. There are no formal nights on this ship however one of the specialty restaurants called The Grand is always formal. There are 7 specialty restaurants of which some are complementary and some are not. There are 11 additional casual restaurants and cafes.

The menu above was from Jamie Oliver's Italian restaurant where we ate the first night.

Then there Is the robotic bar! On the first cruise, it malfunctioned and threw ice all around the bar.

From what we've seen so far, it has not been working! Below is Wonderland, one of the specialty restaurants. $30 per person cover charge. We haven't eaten there yet, but will be later on in the cruise.

The North Star has been very popular. It towers high above the ship and moves from side to side offering panaramic views. We plan to do this later in the cruise.

Beautiful sunsets right off of our balcony!

Kos found a new girlfriend! Isn't she beautiful? :) The art theme of the ship relates to positive energy, fun, wimsy, laughter and happiness! Each elevator has a different photo, one funnier than the next.

Another first for a cruise ship is Bumper Cars!

Before cruising, I posted on the Cruise Critic message board that I would be meeting on Sea Day mornings in a specific area of the ship to teach a crochet project, a bead crochet necklace, etd. Some of the other ladies offered to teach various other crafts as well. Some of the ladies simply came to sit and chat for a couple of hours.

Since this is the inaugeral sailing to the Caribbean, there is a huge number of diamond, diamond plus, and pinnicle members, which makes the concierge lounge impossible. It's great that we can go to any lounge between 5 and 8:30 and can have up to 3 drinks. In our lounge, there is no limit. Plus there's an array of appetizers.

Our first port of call is today, December 4th at San Juan, Puerto Rico. We'll arrive at 4PM which doesn't leave much time to do anything. Our reservation for dinner tonight is 6:45 in The Grande, so we won't have time for anything except a walk and to find some wifi.

I know you're laughing! :)

Shooting pool in The Music Hall.
