This rally to end Urban Beach Weekend was well attended and peaceful. After 10 years of violence, overcrowding, shootings, filth, lewd behavior, intimidation and noise – South Beach residents came out to say “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”.
As our world becomes more global in nature and we accept different cultures into our society, we, as a nation must do more than accept and assimilate other cultures into our own society. Rather we should embrace these cultures, as different as we consider them. This is more than tolerance, it is becoming a "good world neighbor." With that concept in mind, you part-time residences of Miami Beach should be more willing to embrace "Urban Weekend" with its variety of interesting cultural anomalies.
